Peruvian Embassy poetry contest
On 16 August 2024, The Peruvian Embassy in Ghana hosted a poetry contest to celebrate the cultural ties between the two countries. Students from the University of Ghana, Spanish Section were invited to participate by writing original poems in Spanish that explored the similarities between Peruvian and Ghanaian culture.
The competition was a great success, with many talented students submitting their work. After careful deliberation, three winners were selected based on the creativity, originality, and quality of their poems. The winners were awarded certificates, renowned books, and cash prizes. However, to recognize the efforts of all participants, everyone who submitted a poem received a certificate of participation.
The poetry contest was not only a fun and educational experience for the students but also a valuable opportunity to show case their intellectual skills and creativity. By writing poems in Spanish, the students were able to deepen their understanding of the Spanish language and culture, while also exploring the connections between their own cultural heritage and that of Peru.
