THE 9TH IBEROAMERICAN BRAZIL FILM FESTIVAL
The IBERO-American Brazil Film Festival was held on Thursday, 20th November 2025 at the Reginald Amonoo building (MLA), University of Ghana. The program brought together students, faculty members, diplomats and film enthusiasts to celebrate Brazilian cinema and Ibero-American culture.
The event commenced at 4:00 p.m. with the arrival of guests. This was followed by an activity of trivia games and a Brazilian themed dress contest. The formal session began at 5:30 p.m. with opening remarks by the Brazilian Ambassador to Ghana, who emphasized the importance of cultural exchange through film and the role of cinema in strengthening Brazil–Ghana relations within the broader Ibero-American community.
Following the remarks, participants engaged in an interactive trivia game segment based on Brazilian history, culture, music, and film. The activity attracted strong participation from students and helped create a lively and engaging atmosphere.
The main feature presentation was a Brazilian film addressing the theme of racism and racial inequality in Brazil. The screening highlighted historical and contemporary struggles of Afro-Brazilian communities and sparked strong emotional responses from the audience. After the movie, a brief discussion session was held, during which students and faculty reflected on the similarities between racial experiences in Brazil and Ghana.
The program concluded at 7:00 p.m. with closing remarks from the organizers, who expressed appreciation to the Embassy of Brazil and all participants for making the festival a success.
